ITANAGAR, Jun 13: The Pema Khandu-led BJP government took oath for the third consecutive term on Thursday, after winning 46 out of 60 Assembly seats in the recent state elections.

In a significant political development, Khandu, a day prior to taking oath, following a high-level meeting led by BJP’s national general secretary and Union Minister JP Nadda, along with Amit Shah and other party leaders, announced the new cabinet for Arunachal Pradesh. The secret announcement came after phone calls were made to the selected MLAs by Pema Khandu, confirming the list of ministers who will be sworn in.
A total of 11 MLAs received calls, confirming their induction into the cabinet. Besides Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, the newly appointed cabinet ministers are PD Sona, Wangki Lowang, Gabriel D Wangsu, Biyuram Wahge, Mama Natung, Kento Jini, Nyato Dukam, Ojing Tasing, Dasanglu Pul, and Balo Raja.
The new cabinet features eight new faces: PD Sona, Gabriel D Wangsu, Biyuram Wahge, Kento Jini, Nyato Dukam, Ojing Tasing, Dasanglu Pul, and Balo Raja. Notably, Dasanglu Pul has made history as the first woman minister from the Mishmi community.

"We are committed to ensuring the all-round development of the state with our new cabinet ministers. Moreover, to encourage women empowerment, we have inducted one woman minister for the first time in almost two decades," Khandu stated.
