PASIGHAT, Aug 31: The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) of Jawaharlal Nehru  College, Pasighat, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, and sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, Government of India, successfully conducted its first batch of a five-day Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) from August 27 to 31. The program aimed to promote an entrepreneurial culture among the youth of East Siang district and was attended by selected participants with promising business ideas.
Following a rigorous selection process during a three one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program held earlier, 30 participants were chosen from a pool of 120 applicants, divided into three batches of EDPs of 10 participants each  to compete for a grand prize of ₹5 lakhs, by showcasing their innovative business ideas and receiving guidance from industry experts.
The EDP featured a series of sessions led by a diverse array of resource persons, Industrial experts and local entrepreneur Ms Ninna lego founder of house of Macnok Pvt Ltd. And Academician and Herbologist Dr. Temin Payum shared their insights on the entrepreneurial journey, focusing on identifying market opportunities, overcoming challenges, and building sustainable business models. Her presentations included case studies and real-world examples, providing participants with valuable perspectives on what it takes to succeed in the competitive business landscape.
Representatives from the District Industries Centre (DIC) Mr. Upendra Prasad extension officer who outlined government schemes and support systems for entrepreneurs and highlighted some key aspect of business proposal. Mr. Gunin Mattach, Assistant General Manager and Executive officer Mr. Joibumsang Hrongkhol from NEDFIs highlighted the roles of NEDFIs in Promoting  MSMEs in the NE Region and offered detailed guidance on developing Business proposal and pitching. Veterinary officer Ms. Yangkee Tayeng and Horticulture officersMs. Aido Taloh presented sessions on the potential of Horti-business in East Siang District. They highlighted opportunities in livestock management, organic farming, and value-added agricultural products. Their expertise provided participants with practical knowledge on tapping into the region’s rich Horticultural resources to create profitable enterprises.
Dr. D.P. Panda - Head of the Department of Commerce, JN College, who provided a theoretical foundation in entrepreneurship and emphasized innovation, resilience, and networking. The program included workshops, group discussions, and practical sessions, enhancing participants' understanding of entrepreneurship and providing them with the skills needed to launch successful ventures. Dr. Tasi Taloh, Principal of JN College, applauded the initiative and expressed his gratitude to IIE Guwahati and NEC Shillong for their support. He highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students and the broader community. The EDP's success marks a significant step towards creating a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region.
