ITANAGAR, Aug 9:  The Itanagar Police Station registered and charge-sheeted its first case under the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case, registered on August 4, 2024, as Itanagar PS Case No. 134/2024, falls under Section 303(2) of the BNS. The incident involved the theft of motorcycles, and the investigation was swiftly undertaken by Sub-Inspector R.K. Jha, who led the police team in apprehending two accused individuals on the same day the case was reported. During the operation, the police successfully recovered two stolen motorcycles, adding a critical piece of evidence to the case.
Following a thorough investigation, the Itanagar Police filed the charge sheet under Itanagar PS Charge Sheet No. 165/2024 on August 8 last . The charge sheet includes Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the BNS, outlining the charges against the accused individuals.
This case represents a significant step in the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in Arunachal Pradesh, demonstrating the effectiveness of the new law in addressing criminal activities and ensuring justice, stated a release.
