PASIGHAT, Jun 24: The  East Siang Police has busted an interstate drug racket and arrested two drug peddlers.
East Siang Superintendent of Police Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal informed that police acted upon receiving reliable information that one Olak Panggeng, a retired Forest staff, native of Oyan village was in possession of some contraband substance. On thorough search of the premises suspected heroin weighing 23.5 grm was seized. Subsequently a case under NDPS Act was registered and Olak Panggeng was arrested. 
On sustained interrogation, Olak revealed that he had received the seized drugs from a woman named Yapi Tagi @ Api Hazarika of Silapathar, Assam who was going to deliver the consignment again on June 21 morning. Based on the information Police laid a trap and intercepted Yapi Tagi near June-Korong market area, Jonai, Assam. Six soap cases with substance suspected to be Heroin weighing 66.9 grams was seized following due procedure under the NDPS Act. Total seizures were 90.4 gm suspected heroin, two mobile phones and eight plastic tobacco containers. To ascertain more linkages investigation in on, informed police sources.
