Longding , Oct 26: Acting on specific intelligence regarding the movement of NSCN(K-YA) cadres in the area of Changkhao under Longding district, troops of the Assam Rifles launched a strategic search operation. Upon reaching the area, the search patrol encountered heavy gunfire from the insurgent cadre.
Demonstrating swift and coordinated retaliation, the Assam Rifles troops engaged with the cadre, resulting in an intense exchange of fire. In the operation, one cadre of the NSCN(K-YA) was neutralized, ensuring the safety of the area.
The security forces successfully recovered a pistol and several war-like stores from the scene of the encounter. This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region, which has witnessed insurgent activity in the past.
Officials from Assam Rifles commended the troops for their quick action and reaffirmed their commitment to neutralizing insurgent threats in the region. The situation in the area is currently under control, and further surveillance and security measures are being implemented to ensure sustained peace in Longding district.
