Bordumsa, Nov 29: In a remarkable step towards empowering the specially-abled and preserving the cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, the Indian Army inaugurated a Traditional Handicraft Skill Centre at the Community Centre in Bordumsa, Changlang district.
The centre aims to equip specially-abled youth with skills in traditional crafts such as bamboo work, weaving, wood carving, and embroidery, fostering self-reliance and creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. It reflects the Army’s dedication to promoting inclusivity and socio-economic development in the region.
Local leaders, coordinators, and youth participated in the inauguration ceremony, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the Indian Army’s initiative. “This skill centre is not only a symbol of hope but also a bridge connecting our cultural heritage with future generations,” said one of the local leaders.
The centre holds the promise of becoming a hub for preserving the rich traditions of Arunachal Pradesh while generating avenues for economic growth. The collaborative effort between the Army and the local community demonstrates the power of unity and shared purpose.
A senior Army official described the project as a significant milestone in strengthening the bonds between the Indian Army and the people of Arunachal Pradesh. “Through skill development, we are empowering individuals and ensuring their valuable contributions to society while keeping our traditions alive,” the official noted.
