ITANAGAR, Sep 29: As part of its "Swachhata Hi Sewa" Campaign, the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), in collaboration with Heema Hospital, Itanagar, organized a free health camp for its dedicated sanitary workers on Sunday.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Mayor Tamme Phassang commended the hospital authority, stating, "We are deeply thankful to Heema Hospital for their continued generosity and support toward the IMC family by organizing this invaluable health camp. Every year, the hospital extends a compassionate helping hand to our workers, which further inspires us," he added.
The Mayor highlighted that IMC's sanitary workers are especially susceptible to various infections due to the demanding nature of their work. "While many contribute to littering the city, only a select few, like our sanitary workers, shoulder the responsibility of keeping the city clean each day. They are truly the unsung heroes of our society," he stated.
He also emphasized that the financial constraints faced by IMC workers often limit their ability to address their health needs. "Initiatives like these, spearheaded by Heema Hospital’s CMD Dr. Byabang Rana and Medical Superintendent Dr. Kesang W. Thongdok, are a tremendous blessing for our workers and an act of kindness that cannot be measured," he added.
Earlier, Dr. Byabang Rana, CMD of Heema Hospital, shared that the hospital would provide comprehensive free health check-ups for IMC’s sanitation staff. In addition to routine examinations, the hospital will offer free diabetes screenings, blood tests, consultations across various medical specialties, and complimentary medicines for all workers.
“It is our privilege to offer assistance to the IMC sanitation workers who face daily exposure to hazardous waste and are highly vulnerable to infections. This is our small gesture  expressing our appreciation for their relentless efforts,” said Dr. Rana.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Kesang W. Thongdok, along with Deputy MS Dr. Paya Liyak, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of such healthcare initiatives.
Attendees included IMC Commissioner Techu Aran, Joint Commissioner Datum Gadi, and Corporators Lokam Anand, Tarh Achak, and Gyamar Taz, along with other IMC officials.
