ZIRO, Apr 23: The family of Corporal Tage Hailyang, a young Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel martyred in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has made a strong and emotional appeal for justice, urging authorities to bring the perpetrators to account and to not spare those who harm the nation.
Corporal Hailyang, a native of Ziro, Lower Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh, was among the victims of a cowardly terror attack that targeted innocent tourists and civilians alike on April 22.
Recalling his journey, elder brother shared how Hailyang had always shown exceptional promise and dedication from a young age.
“He was a gifted child. After cracking the entrance exam, he went to Haryana for his studies and excelled in every field,” said his brother. “Later, he joined Don Bosco College, and during his final year, he was selected for the Indian Air Force ground staff. Despite our request to continue his studies, he chose to serve the nation—his dream, his passion.”
Corporal Hailyang officially joined the IAF in 2020. He was posted in Jammu but had been transferred to Dibrugarh, Assam recently. Before reporting to his new posting, he took a brief personal trip with his newlywed wife to Pahalgam. It was there that tragedy struck.
“He was killed in front of his wife,” the family shared, their voices heavy with grief. “She is still in deep trauma and unable to speak. We are all in shock.”
Despite the immense personal loss, the family holds their head high, considering his death not a loss, but a sacrifice for the nation. A family member (brother), also revealed that Hailyang’s elder brother is also currently serving in the Indian Army.
“We don't see this as just a death. He became a martyr for the nation. I request Hailyang’s  elder brother (Indian Army) to avenge whenever he encounters terrorists—to remember Tage in those moments.”
The grieving family also appealed to the people of India and the state of Arunachal Pradesh to pray for Corporal Tage Hailyang’s soul and to honor his bravery.
“Our brother died for the nation. Let us never forget him and all the innocents who were taken by terror. Justice must be served—not just for us, but for the country.” he added.
