ITANAGAR, July 16: Minister for Home Mama Natung, held a meeting with top police officials at Police Headquarters (PHQ) today. It was his maiden visit to the PHQ after assuming office.
During the visit, the Home Minister was warmly welcomed by Anand Mohan, IPS, Director General of Police, Arunachal Pradesh, along with other senior officers of the Arunachal Pradesh Police Department. Upon his arrival, Natung was honoured with a Guard of Honour.
Superintendents of Police from various districts, excluding those from the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), attended the briefing through video conferencing. The Home Minister, also inked a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India and the Arunachal Pradesh Police. This MoU aims to extend various banking service benefits to police personnel and their families.
Speaking on the occasion, Chukhu Apa, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), briefed the Home Minister about the functioning of various branches of the Arunachal Pradesh Police, including Fire and Emergency Services, and the Prison Department. Detailed information was provided on TCL 2.0, as well as various proposals, challenges, and initiatives undertaken by the Arunachal Pradesh Police.
In his address to the officers, Natung emphasized the importance of fostering a strong bond between police personnel and the general public through community policing. He urged all officers to play a crucial role in enforcement, prevention and raising awareness about drug-related issues. He assured the officers of all possible support from the government for the modernization of the Arunachal Pradesh Police.
The Home Minister also inspected the construction site of the new Police Headquarters building within the Police Headquarters premises, expressing keen interest in the progress of the project.
