AALO,  Dec 16: The Galo Students' Union (GSU) organized awareness campaign on misuse of social media and drug menace at Government Secondary School Nikte, West Siang District.
Gota Boje, one of the resource persons advised the students not to indulge in drug addiction. Sharing his experience with drug addiction, he advised students to disassociate with friends encouraging them to take alcohol and drugs.  Boje is associated with an NGO Mother Vision as a counselor.
The NGO Mother Vision is based  at Aalo and aims to eradicate drug addiction and is running a rehabilitation centre for addicts. 
Kiren Rakshap, a law graduate advised the students to dedicate their time in studies and not to waste time on social media such as Facebook, Instagram etc. He expressed concern over students and youth having easy access to social media and misusing it. He highlighted how youths are resorting to obscenity just to garner likes, views and shares. Speaking at the event, former Zila Parishad member and member of School management Development Committee, Topak Ori, appreciated the GSU for organizing the awareness campaign.
