PASIGHAT, Sep 18: Education Minister PD Sona who is on his tour of East Siang, as part of his follow up on ‘Chintan Shivir’  cum consultative meeting to revamp the education scenario of the state, on Tuesday inaugurated the state-of-the-art new school building of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Mebo (Romdum) under Mebo subdivision  in the presence of Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng and a host of dignitaries. The new school building replaces the old SPT building which was established in 1956. Speaking on the efforts of the government to identify infrastructure gaps in the education sector, the minister said that good school infrastructure creates suitable academic ambiance for students and asked to maintain the assets created.
He informed the gathering the objective of his visits to the districts to engage with educators and stakeholders was to gain insights of district specific issues and challenges to transform and revitalize  the education scenario of the state with a long term road map. Best practices in the education Sector will also be incorporated. The Minister also mentioned the pioneering role of Pasighat in the education sector, particularly higher and professional education.
Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng also said that the proactive initiatives to revamp through infrastructure upgradation, rationalization of teachers and merging of schools will reap benefits in the future and sought the continued support of the education minister.
Earlier, Sona chaired a coordination meeting to review the follow up action on the ‘Chintan Shivir’ on education sector at the conference hall of IGJ Higher Secondary School, Pasighat.
Pasighat East MLA, Tapi Darang also sought hostel facilities for students in IJGHSS where students from feeder schools of the district study, posting of subject teachers and required infrastructures for schools.
The meeting was also attended by former MLAs Lombo Tayeng and Ralom Borang, Secretary education cum SPD Duly kamduk, DC Tayi Taggu, SP Dr. Sachin Kr Singhal, senior officials of education dept, ZPC Olen Rome, GBs,CBOs etc.
DDSE Odhuk Tabing submitted a two- point memorandum which included 3-D Schools for GUPs Romdum, GUPs Pasighat and GUPs Ruksin and also survey report of consultative meeting.
