Namsai, Sep 28: In a bid to implement the newly launched PM Vishwakarma Scheme successfully in Namsai District, the District Implementation Committee headed by Deputy Commissioner CR Khampa today conducted an interactive meeting with all the departments concerned and stakeholders.
PM Vishwakarma is a newly launched Central Sector Scheme of Ministry of MSME, Government of India. It aims to strengthen and nurture the Guru-Shishya Parampara or family-based practice of the traditional skills of artisans and craftspeople working with hands and tools. It also aims to improve the quality as well as the reach of products and services of artisans and craftspeople by formally integrating them with domestic and global value chains through recognition and registration, skill upgradation, toolkit and digital transaction incentives, and credit, marketing and other institutional supports.
18 traditional trades – Carpenter; Boat Maker; Armourer; Blacksmith; Hammer & Toolkit Maker; Locksmith; Goldsmith; Potter; Sculptor (Stone)/Stone Breaker; Cobbler/Shoesmith/Footwear Artisan; Mason; Basket, Mat & Broom Maker/Coir Weaver; Doll & Toy Maker; Barber; Garland Maker; Washerman; Tailor; and Fishing Net Maker – will be covered under the scheme in the first phase.
Apprising about the vision of the scheme, Namsai DC CR Khampa spoke in detail about the aims and objectives of the scheme and its components, and ways and means for generating mass awareness to bring the benefits under the scheme at the doorsteps of all eligible beneficiaries. Urging for early identification and registration of beneficiaries, the DC suggested mechanisms for proper conceptualization of action plan to conduct a series of sensitization programmes covering all the administrative circles of the district to generate awareness about the scheme to the masses.
Stressing the importance of involvement of PRI and public leaders in mobilization, identification, verification and registration of eligible beneficiaries under the scheme, DC Khampa exhorted all the stakeholders concerned to imbibe the mantra of “act together attitude” and urged them to play their part responsively for successful implementation of the scheme.  
ADI Nondo Doka and MGNF Vinay Kumar Hanwate highlighted about the scheme to all the stakeholders present in the meeting.
