ITANAGAR, Sep 8:Governor PB Acharya has written to Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India for allotting more MBBS seats to Arunachal Pradesh.
In his letter, the Governor stated that Arunachal Pradesh, like Mizoram and Nagaland do not have medical colleges in the State. As a result, Arunachal Pradesh has to send its students for MBBS degree to the Medical Colleges of other States. Every year a minimum of 25 (twenty-five) seats are being allotted to the State, he pointed.
Noting that this year Arunachal has been allotted lesser number of seats and 3 (three) MBBS seats outside Central Pool seats sponsored by North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong for Arunachal Pradesh in Medical Colleges of Assam have been withdrawn, the Governor has requested the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare to intervene to make up the deficiency by allotting at least 5 (Five) additional MBBS seats for Arunachal Pradesh.
Governor Acharya requested the Minister to review the decision and do justice to Arunachal Pradesh by allotting more medical seats (quota) than the previous year.
