ITANAGAR, Dec 26: Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, Darshana Vikram Jardosh called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Tuesday. They discussed promotion of textiles and improvement in railway service.
The Governor emphasized on strengthening the industry ecosystem in the State, which has a vibrant textile segment. He said that large numbers of womenfolk of Arunachal Pradesh are involved in the textile sector and such a proactive role of the Ministry will reinforce ‘Atmanirbhartha’ amongst Arunachali women in true sense.  
Parnaik stressed on promotion of traditional textiles of Arunachal Pradesh by fostering the growth of micro and small enterprises in the State. He said it will  be the growth engine for employment opportunities with special focus on women empowerment.  
The Governor also called for better services for the railway passengers, in view of large numbers of people availing the train services, especially the tourists. He further requested for commencing ‘Goods train/bogies services’ to facilitate transportation of goods and arts and crafts items to different parts of the country.
The Union Minister of State briefed the Governor on the proposed Railway projects as well as initiatives being taken by the Textile Ministry to promote textiles industry, through training and marketing.
