ITANAGAR, Nov 28: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) visited Kurung Kumey district on Tuesday. In his maiden visit to Koloriang, the Governor reviewed developmental programmes and schemes of the district. Local MLA Lokam Tassar, Deputy Commissioner, Ibom Tao, Superintendent of Police Bomken Basar, District Heads of Department and former elected leaders were also present in the meeting.
The Governor expressed his concern about the slow implementation of welfare initiatives of the government and shortage of departmental officers in the district. He suggested the use of technology and automation for planning and project implementation.
Parnaik emphasized on education, health and agriculture. He appealed to elected representatives, Panchayat members, Gaon Burahs and youth to focus on students completing minimum basic education, i.e. 10 plus 2 which will provide them opportunities for employment.
The Governor reiterated for village volunteers, especially womenfolk for health and sanitation inspector, who can be trained in health care, hygiene and sanitation. They can lead the way to ensure cleanliness in villages and could be incentivized by the State government, he said.
While highlighting the initiatives of the government in the health sector, particularly to eradicate Tuberculosis and Cancer, Parnaik urged the people to adopt TB patients under the Nikshay Mitra programme.
The Governor stressed on the agrarian community to become Atma Nirbhar (Self-reliant) by focusing on agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors.
The Governor said that for progress and prosperity, there must be good infrastructure, including roads, hospitals, educational institutes and other basic facilities in the district. The successful implementation of the programme under Vibrant Village Programme of our visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will help in reverse migration, as soon as development reaches the border areas.
Earlier, the Governor interacted with Goan Burahs, Panchayat members, government officials and people of Koloriang. He shared his concern of drug addictions amongst the youth of the State.
The Governor called upon all stakeholders to prepare the youth for recruitment in Army/paramilitary forces, so that we can contribute to the raising of additional battalions of Arunachal Scouts.
Parnaik visited Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Koloriang and interacted with the teachers and students of the school. He said that the VKV schools are synonyms with discipline, good grooming and respect for all and exhorted them to excel as a model school. He felicitated achievers of the school during his visit.
The students presented a patriotic song and traditional group dance on the occasion. The alumni of the school also were present on the special occasion for the school.
Earlier on the day, the Governor made an aerial tour of Sarli, a remote village border village and touched down at Hurii.
