ITANAGAR, Dec 24: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) has conveyed warm greetings to the people of the State, in general and the Christian brethren in particular, on the auspicious and holy occasion of Christmas. He expressed hope and prayed that the festive occasion would usher in peace, goodwill and tranquillity throughout the State.
In his message, the Governor said that Christmas heralds the birth of Jesus Christ, who symbolises love and faith, and remains a powerful symbol of hope for a better future. At the same time, it marks a moment to pause, to reflect and believe in the possibilities of new beginning and rejuvenation. I am sanguine that in the months to come, we shall be able to find ways and means to strengthen our bond of togetherness among communities for a better and brighter future for all, he said.
Parnaik also greeted the people on Good Governance Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He expressed hope that the celebration will foster more awareness, among the people, about the public accountability of the government and promote honesty, integrity, accountability and responsibility in every person in authority for people friendly governance.
In his message, the Governor said that Good Governance encompasses inclusive growth and development for the welfare and betterment of the life of the people in the country. The processes and functioning of the government machinery, therefore, have to be made fully transparent and responsive. Involving the citizens in the developmental process through social audit and making them active participants in the governance will strengthen good governance.
The Governor further said that Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an illustrious statesman, extraordinary orator, and distinguished writer. He maintained that the empowerment of the people is best served through rapid economic growth and rapid social progress. As a tribute to the great son of Bharat Mata, I appeal to the people of Arunachal Pradesh to accept, adopt, and apply the tenets of Good Governance, in letter and spirit, in service of the Nation, the Governor said in his message.
