Itanagar, Oct 28: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), and the First Lady of the State Anagha Parnaik took part in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation program at Anini and District Hospital, Roing on October 26-27. The events were organized by the Divisional Forest Officer, Anini Forest Division, Anini and the Divisional Forest Officer, Dibang Forest Division, Roing.
The Governor, who has been advocating for the conservation of flora and fauna encouraged the community to honour and celebrate motherhood by planting a tree in their mothers' names. He highlighted that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative not only pays tribute to mothers but also contributes to environmental goals, including increasing green cover, fighting climate change, and protecting biodiversity.
The Governor said that the program helps foster a stronger sense of responsibility and connection to nature within individuals and communities.
Local MLA Mopi Mihu, Deputy Commissioner Pagli Sora and Superintendent of Police Ringu Ngupok were present during the plantation at Anini, while Lower Dibang Valley District MLAs Mutchu Mithi and Puinnyo Apum along with Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh and Superintendent of Police Tumme Amo participated in the plantation at Roing.
