ITANAGAR, Oct 21: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) has extended festival greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja and Dussehra. He expressed hope that these festivals will further strengthen the spirit of virtue to fight against all evils.
In his message, the Governor said that Durga Puja, dedicated to the Goddess Durga, symbolizes the triumph of good (Goddess Durga) over the evil demon king Mahishasura. This festival not only showcases the divine feminine power but also emphasizes the importance of unity and the collective effort of gods and goddesses to defeat the forces of evil. It teaches us the significance of inner strength, determination, and the ability to overcome obstacles.
The Governor said Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, marks the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, as narrated in the ancient Indian epic Ramayana. The festival signifies the victory of righteousness (Rama) over iniquity (Ravana). The burning of Ravana's effigy during Dussehra symbolizes the destruction of evil forces and the triumph of moral values. It reminds us of the consequences of arrogance, ego, and greed and emphasizes the importance of humility, truth, and dharma (righteousness). These festivals, through their mythological stories, rituals, and celebrations, reinforce the significance of ethical and moral values in our lives. They remind us of the eternal battle between good and evil and inspire individuals to choose the path of righteousness even in the face of adversity. By promoting these values, Durga Puja and Dussehra contribute to fostering peace, prosperity, and unity in society, making them an integral part of our cultural heritage and traditions, he said.
May Durga Puja and Dussehra this year inspire all to follow the path of virtue and usher in peace and happiness for all, the Governor wished in his message.
