ITANAGAR, Sep 7: As part of the ongoing effort to seek protection for the cow, Pujya Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Ji Maharaj will arrive in the Arunachal Pradesh capital, Itanagar, on September 26 next. The visit is part of a nationwide movement "Gau-Dhwaj Sthapana Yatra” advocating for the declaration of the cow as “Rashtramata” (Mother of the Nation) and promoting a cow-slaughter-free India.
Speaking to the reporters at the press club on Saturday, representative of the seer and the GDSY stated that the Sanatan dharma’s sacred texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas, venerates the cow as a symbol of reverence and motherly affection.
This movement, led by Pujya Gopal Mani Ji Maharaj, has been working to remove the cow from the state list and include it in the central list, elevating its status as the "Rashtramata”. The initiative has garnered support from all four Peeths (monastic centers) of Shankaracharyas and aims to uphold the sanctity of the cow in Indian society.
On September 27 next from 9 AM to 12 PM, Shankaracharya Ji will preside over a "Gau Mahasabha" (Cow Assembly) in Itanagar, during which a cow flag will be established, symbolizing the movement’s objectives. Following this event, he will continue his journey to Nagaland, his representative said.
The mission of the "Gau-Dhwaj Sthapana Yatra" is to awaken cow-worshiping Hindus across India, unite them, and work towards eliminating cow slaughter. The journey’s motto is: “Gau Mata, Rashtramata – Rashtramata, Bharat Mata” (Cow Mother, Nation’s Mother – Nation’s Mother, India’s Mother).
The "Gau-Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra" (Cow Flag Establishment Journey), will traverse 37 state capitals across India, promoting the cause of cow protection. In each state, a cow flag will be installed, and large gatherings of cow devotees will take place. The campaign was inaugurated in Ayodhya, the sacred city of Lord Rama, and will conclude in the national capital, Delhi, on October 26 next.
