ITANAGAR, June 2: In a remarkable feat, four women candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have emerged victorious in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections, underscoring the increasing role of women in state politics.
Tsering Lhamu secured a significant win from the 1-Lumla Assembly Constituency, defeating Jampa Thirnly Kunkhap of the Indian National Congress by a margin of 1,531 votes. Lhamu garnered 5,040 votes. She is the wife of the former legislator Late Jambey Tashi, and her victory is seen as a continuation of his legacy.
In the 29-Basar constituency, Nyabi Jini Dirchi triumphed on a BJP ticket, defeating Gokar Basar of the National People's Party with a margin of 1,791 votes. Dirchi received a total of 9,174 votes, demonstrating strong support from her constituency.
Dasanglu Pul won uncontested from the 45-Hayuliang constituency, reinforcing her position as a key leader within the BJP. Her unopposed win speaks volumes about her acceptance and popularity among the electorate. She is the wife of former CM Late Kalikho Pul. This time it will be her full second term as MLA  from Hayuliang A/C.
From the 56-Khonsa constituency, Chakat Aboh clinched victory with 4,093 votes, winning by a margin of 804 votes against her four opponents from the PPA, NCP, INC, and an Independent candidate. Aboh is the wife of former Minister Late Tirong Aboh, and her success highlights the continued trust in her family's leadership.
These victories by women candidates not only mark a significant achievement for the BJP but also reflect the growing influence and participation of women in Arunachal Pradesh's political landscape. The successful election of these four women leaders is expected to inspire more women to engage actively in politics and contribute to the state's development.
