ITANAGAR, Oct 17: The Tirap Changlang Longding Peoples Forum (TCLPeF) convened a meeting at Changlang to press their demands for the establishment of a Tirap Changlang Longding Autonomous Council. The meeting saw the active participation of several community-based organizations, Gaon Burah Associations, Women Association, and Student Unions from the three districts.
Nongming K. Longchang, a member of TCLPeF, highlighted that the demand for an autonomous council is not a new one but represents a long-standing aspiration of the TCL area. The intention is not to oppose or hinder any party or group but to work towards the enhanced development of the TCL region, which they believe is lagging behind other districts in various aspects due to a variety of reasons.
The meeting also witnessed the presence of local leaders, including Head Zila Parishad Chairpersons (HZPCs), Zila Parishad Members (ZPMs), Panchayat Leaders, and former Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs), who actively participated in the discussion.
