Itanagar, Aug 8: The All Arunachal Tribal Muslim Youth Forum (AATMYF) was officially dissolved following widespread criticism across the state. The announcement was made by AATMYF Chairman Giah Limpeah during a press conference held at the Press Club on Thursday.
Limpeah addressed the recent controversy surrounding viral audio clips and social media posts. He explained that the Forum was initially created to foster unity among tribal Muslims in Arunachal Pradesh. However, the formation of the Forum was met with significant backlash.
Limpeah emphasized that every individual has the right to follow the religion of their choice, noting that many tribals in the state have adopted religions other than their indigenous beliefs. He also clarified that the Forum did not, and does not, support unauthorized or illegal immigrants exploiting the name of Islam for personal gain.
In light of the intense criticism, AATMYF has chosen to dissolve, though they will continue to support their community in other capacities. Limpeah issued a strong appeal to the public to cease any form of harassment against former members of the Forum, warning that legal action could be taken if the harassment continues despite the dissolution of the Forum.
