TUTING, Oct 21: The First Lady of the state, Anagha Parnaik, who accompanied the Governor during his visit to the Vibrant Border Village in Upper Siang District, interacted with women self-help groups and non-governmental organizations at Tuting on Friday.
She exhorted the womenfolk to be self-reliant and economically empowered by organizing themselves as a group. Parnaik commended the women for maintaining the age-old traditions of the tribal community.
The First Lady of the State advised them to preserve their cultural ethos and good traditional practices.
Large number of women self-help groups and non-governmental organizations from Tuting and its nearby villages displayed their loin loom weave products, including traditional items, art and crafts products. They also shared their challenges and other issues related to their activities with the First lady of the State.
Parnaik visited Donyi Polo Gangging, Tuting and interacted with the local priest and members of the Gangging. She also visited the Tuting Monastery and Monastery school and interacted with the monks and students.
