ITANAGAR, Feb 3: The Department of Trade and Commerce, in collaboration with Tea Board India and Tea Research Association, Itanagar, conducted a four-day training program on "Quality Upgradation of Tea and its Processing" for tea farmers from Mirem, Oyan village and surrounding areas at Mirem, East Siang District on January 28 -29, and at Donyi Polo Tea Estate, Oyan on January 30-31.
The programme aimed to empower farmers with knowledge and skills on quality upgradation of tea, enhancing qualitative processing in tea industries. The training was imparted by scientists from Tea Research Association, Arunachal Advisory Centre, Itanagar and officers from Tea Board of Itanagar, and witnessed an overwhelming participation of farmers.
The training concluded with a hands-on practical session in the field, followed by a certificate distribution ceremony, where participants were awarded certificates for their successful completion of the four-day program.
This initiative underscores the Department of Trade and Commerce' commitment to promoting the growth and development of the tea farmers and industry in the region for export promotion of the local tea, the department said in a statement.
