Yupia, Apr 2: Election Expenditure Observer for Papum Pare, Praveen Kataraki, convened a meeting with the candidates of 13-Itanagar, 14-Doimukh and 15-Sagalee, the Election Expenditure Monitoring team and the accounting team at Yupia on Tuesday.
Addressing the house, Kataraki said that expenditure monitoring in elections endeavours to provide a level -playing field for all the candidates by preventing candidates from gaining an unfair advantage through excessive spending.
“It is important to strictly adhere to the expenditure guidelines and maintain all the records, to avoid any violations which could lead to candidates being debarred to contest elections in future,” he said.
“The registers maintained by the EEM and the accounting team and the candidate will be verified on three occasions,” he added while urging them to keep the registers updated.
Later he sensitized the party representatives about the entries to be made in the expenditure register.
DEO Papum Pare Jiken Bomjen while highlighting the contents of annexure-49 which contains guidelines about the candidate’s account expenditures, requested all the candidates to be vigil and abide by the guidelines.
Returning Officer 13 Itanagar Shweta Nagarkoti, Returning Officer 15 Sagalee Yame Higio, Nodal Officers to EEM, Observer, election agents of the contesting candidates attended the meeting.
