ITANAGAR, Nov 23: In a sweeping move, the Department of Education has terminated over 250 staff, including Lower Division Clerks (LDC), Upper Division Clerks (UDC), Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Post Graduate Teachers (PGT), and Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), citing violations of appointment norms.
The termination order, signed by the Under Secretary of Education, stated that the affected personnel secured their positions through the submission of forged and fabricated appointment orders. The official inquiry committee revealed that no such appointment letters were ever issued by the department.
The terminated staff is distributed across various districts, with Changlang bearing the impact at 72, followed by Anjaw with 26. The affected districts also include Kurung Kumey (6), ICR (3), Upper Siang (1), East Siang (18), Longding (10), Tirap (2), Upper Subansiri (8), Lohit (4), Lower Siang (4), West Siang (1), and Siang (102).
In 2021, MLA Ninong Ering during the Assembly Session had claimed that there was illegal appointments in the Education Department and sought inquiry on the whole scam. Recently, Longding District Students Union had also claimed that at least 28 people were appointed illegally in the education department in Longding District.
Responding to the allegations, the state government has constituted an enquiry committee to unearth the whole scam.
