PASIGHAT, May 27: Joining the ongoing “The Himalayan Clean-up” (TCH)-2024 campaign against the  concerning plastic pollution in the Himalayan states and its  harmful  impact on its fragile ecology and water crisis, the East Siang District Administration in collaboration with the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) under the aegis of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ organised a clean-up drive  today at the Komlighat-Siang Riverfront and collected  plastic wastes and other garbage materials some 2.4 metric tons  comprising mostly of   water bottles,  chips and various plastic  packets and other wastes  etc which were  later lifted and transported to the Municipal Solid Waste Plant site. Initiated in 2018, TCH is the biggest campaign for collective action our mountains have seen against plastic pollution. According to official sources, since its inception, more than 35,000 individuals have joined in to be part of the movement so far. 
East Siang DC Tayi Taggu, SP Sachin Kr. Singhal, ASP Pankaj Lamba, PMC Chief and MEO Okiam Moyong Borang and Onam Lego respectively, Smart City CEO Dr. Manjuli Komutalong with more than 1,100 volunteers including members from APDA, JNC, RRU, APU, PMA, government officers and staffers, various NGOs like WASE, Mirmir Bulls, etc actively participated in the said Clean-up Campaign.
