PASIGHAT, Oct 12: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu today formally launched Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme in the district.
Addressing the house on the occasion, DC Taggu informed that the BBBP scheme was launched on 22nd January, 2015 at Panipat, Haryana by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the issue of decline in Child Sex Ratio (CSR) in the country along with related issues of empowerment of girls and women, over a life cycle continuum. ‘It gives us the scope to do a lot of regulatory and enforcement related things for holistic development and empowerment of girl children. It will be implemented through a national campaign and focused multi-sectoral action and is a joint initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development. Among the core objectives of BBBP scheme are to prevent gender biased sex survival and protection and ensuring increased enrollment in schools and skill development for livelihood of girl children’, added the DC. 
As part of the core strategy, the district administration has chalked out a plan for implementation of a sustained social mobilization and communication campaign to create equal value for the girl child and promote her education and also to mobilize local bodies, NGOs and grass-root workers, local community, women and youth groups in partnership. He approved the District Action Plan (DAP) proposed by the WCD and committee members. 
East Siang SP Sumit Kr Jha in his brief address emphasized the vital importance of creating awareness and providing essential support and guidance to the girl children. He highlighted the need for mobilization of the community to make BBBP a collective effort in order to sustain the programme over a long term basis and called upon the officers to facilitate seamless coordination with all line departments with an assurance the police department will always be ready extend all logistic supports and cooperation in the implementation process.
DD (ICDS) Machi Gao provided a comprehensive overview of all activities conducted by her department and also presented a status report on upcoming activities, highlighting the commitment of the district to the cause. DIPRO, Pasighat
