PASIGHAT, July 21: Arunachal Pradesh Doctors Association (APDA) East Siang Branch undertook a cleanliness drive at Komlighat, Pasighat today with the theme ‘Plastic Free Drive for Pasighat.’ The drive was led by President APDA-ES, Dr Talung Tali and General Secretary, Dr Keni Lego and member doctors from the district enthusiastically took part. Members of Mirmir Bulls, a registered NGO also volunteered on the occasion.
The amount of trash, plastics, bottles etc that we throw and litter while we visit the place, can be imagined as two truckloads of three tons PMC truck full of these wastes were collected in the few hours of the cleanliness drive. While sharing his thoughts Dr Tali, President APDA-ES opined that it’s the responsibility of everyone visiting the place, including the vendors doing business there, not to throw and litter the place.
Mirmir Bulls Secretary Otel Darin thanked APDA-ES for including the NGO in the programme. He added that the scenic beauty of Siang river and its surroundings is god’s gift to us and it’s the responsibility of everyone visiting the place not to spoil it. He lauded the doctors’ community for taking the initiative in cleaning Komlighat, as it also creates awareness on importance of keeping places of tourists interest clean.
The cleanliness drive was undertaken on the occasion of Doctors Day, which was on 1st of July, but it had to be postponed because of incessant rains then. It was planned and executed successfully by Chairperson Doctors Day Celebration Committee, Dr Beauty Borang and her team.
