TEZU, Dec 14: A meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee for the Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP) was held at the District Secretariat conference hall today.
Chairing by meeting Deputy Commissioner incharge Kamaleshwar Rao S, appreciated the work being carried out by Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) and urged all the line departments to provide necessary support.
During the meeting powerpoint was presented by the officials of the ArSRLM, Oyin Pertin who is the DTC-SISD spoke about VPRP stating that it is an effort to make the planning process at the village level more inclusive and participatory. “The Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP) is a community demand plan prepared by the Self Help Group (SHG) network which can be further integrated into the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP)” she added.
Tomai Suyang BMM Tezu spoke on the role of ArSRLM SHGs in fighting the issue of malnutrition; she highlighted Poshan Abhiyan and sought cooperation from all the line departments in order to make the VPRP exercise a successful one. Also, during the meeting the importance of promoting alternative sources of livelihood was presented and discussion was also held on how to choose livelihood interventions. To add, demands fulfilled from last year’s VPRP submission were also highlighted during the meeting.
The program concluded with a pledge to end Gender based discrimination and violence by all the participants in the meeting. The meeting was attended by officers of the line departments, Gaon Buras and PRI members. DIPRO
