Khonsa, Aug 21: A crucial 3-day basic disaster response training program for community volunteers has been successfully completed in Tirap District as part of its 100 Days Action Plan to enhance local emergency preparedness.
Held from August 19 to 21, the training aimed to equip volunteers with essential skills for effective disaster management. The program featured comprehensive sessions on first aid, search and rescue operations, and emergency response techniques.
Organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), led by DDMO Emily Tingkhatra, this initiative plays a significant role in the district’s strategy to improve community resilience. The training has provided participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond swiftly to emergencies, ensuring better support for residents during crises.
As the program continues, the focus remains on building a robust network of trained volunteers prepared to face potential challenges in the coming months. The DDMA plans to evaluate the impact of this training and schedule additional sessions to maintain and enhance community preparedness.
The 3-day training program took place in the villages of Chasa, Khonsa, and Borduria, conducted at the UD Hall. On the third day, solar lamps, raincoats, and first aid kits were distributed to the community volunteers by Tana Bapu, EAC Khonsa as part of the disaster preparedness initiative.
