AALO, Nov 30: The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), West Siang District conducted a one-day Awareness cum Orientation Programme on Legal Adoption to mark the International Month of Adoption on Wednesday at Aalo. The programme was conducted especially for village heads and PRI members of respective villages under West Siang District.
Yabi Riba Ete, i/c District Child Protection Officer, informed about various schemes and programmes under District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and also highlighted the various Act/Rules implemented for child welfare under Mission Vatsalya.
Mijum Doke, Legal cum Probation Officer, as resource person of the programme gave detail orientation on legal adoption such as procedure & regulation of adoption, age criteria of prospective adoptive parents (PAPs) and punitive provision for illegal adoption.
Dege Kamki, Protection Officer gave orientation on POCSO Act, 2012 and Child Marriage Act, 2006.
Tumpe Ete, ZPC, West Siang District, also requested village heads not to take any case related to POCSO at the village level adjudication and advised them to report to the District Child Protection Unit or to the nearest Police Station.
