NAMSAI, Oct 20: Block level orientation cum sensitisation program for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Anganwadi workers (AWWs) on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Scheme was conducted today in Namsai.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Namsai C.R.Khampa appreciated the work of AWWs and ASHAs at grassroots level and said that they are actually working for the betterment of condition of women and children. He exhorted the importance of counselling for mothers and other care givers for giving equal care to a girl child in the family as well as in all walks of life. The DC shed light on PCPNDT Act, 1994 and urged all to report to the authorities in case any violation of the Act was being done so that action can be initiated as per law.
BBBP Scheme initiated by the Government of India will provide every opportunity for the upliftment of girl child across all sectors of education, health, sports etc.
DRCHO Namsai was the resource person for health component. He emphasised the need for early registration of pregnancy during the 1st trimester and spoke about the importance of ante natal and post natal checkups (ANCs/PNCs), timely immunisation of pregnant women and children at birth.
CDPO Namsai elaborated and explained the BBBP Scheme and its objectives. She mentioned that along with online uploading of beneficiaries in Poshan tracker it is mandatory to attend queries on Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (Pmmvy).
She further informed that a list of activities are lined up to be conducted under the program.
