ITANAGAR, Dec 22: The first coordination meeting of tourism stakeholders and Arunachal Tourism Society, Itanagar was convened today by Deputy Commissioner Capital Itanagar Talo Potom.
A detailed discussion for the development of tourism in the state capital in general and on measures to improve the existing tourist spots was held by the members.
All present stressed on the need to develop the existing tourist places in the capital and to identify new tourist locations and also on the need to promote adventure tourism like hiking, events such as cultural exchange program and use of social media as a tool to promote tourism.
They also suggested measures to develop the various aspects of tourism as the state has huge potential in tourism sector.
They also said that the much needed boost in tourism sector will greatly increase revenue generation for the state.
Earlier, DTO Capital Rechi Lugnya through a presentation explained the tourism structure at the district level in detail.
She also briefed about the current tourism schemes like Chief Minister Paryatan Vikash Yojana which is for Homestay/food court/Adventure etc and Chief Minister Paryatan Shiksha Yojana(I&II).
She also highlighted the existing tourism assets like the Gekar Sinyi(Ganga Lake), Biological Park Itanagar, Theravada Buddhist Temple, Itafort, JL Nehru State Museum, Itanagar Gompa, IG park etc.
The DC urged all to work in coordination with each other and directed the DTO to work in liaison with the tour operators to prepare a detailed plan on tourism sector.
