Itanagar, Aug 30: A meeting to discuss the implementation of Master Plan of Itanagar Capital Region and Enforcement of Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye- Laws 2010/19 was convened today by Deputy Commissioner Capital Itanagar, Talo Potom.
The DC urged all present to actively participate in the meeting and to give valuable suggestions as joint efforts from all stakeholders would be required for the implementation of the Itanagar Master Plan. He said that unplanned development has already hampered the growth of the capital yet we should move forward now with new zeal and enthusiasm for overall development. He also stressed that every development step should be taken in a positive way. 
Director Town Planning, Likha Suraj informed that the Itanagar Master Plan 2031 is a visionary document for better Itanagar which will foresee development of the city in every aspect. The IMP 2031 also implies that the land use and construction activities within Itanagar planning area shall be regulated by Itanagar Planning Authority. He explained in brief about Town planning legislations since its inception in Arunachal Pradesh and the roles and responsibilities of the Department. Informing about the mandatory ‘development permission’ for any purpose of use of land, the Director stressed that development should be in a regulated way and not haphazard and it is high time to implement the MP 2031 and for which coordination from all stakeholders is called for. He added that the cooperation for Implementation of the Master Plan and the Enforcement of Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye-Laws are essential for regulating urban development and ensuring sustainable growth in the region. 
Town Planner Dacha Bagang presented an over view of the implementation and enforcement of the Master Plan of Capital Itanagar while highlighting issues and further mentioning the actions/ solutions for the same. Few issues highlighted were Road widening, Junction improvement, Foot path, interconnecting bridge, flyover, alternative roads, median, housing, drainage, sewerage, solid waste management, tourism, commercial corridor, new roads, education, health, parking, freight and parking facility, optical fibre grid, mass rapid transit system( MRTS), street vending zone etc. 
He also discussed about various modalities for the successful implementation of the plan and Enforcement of Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye- Laws. Earlier, ATP Nabam Panchami while welcoming all informed that master 
plan is an ideal concept to build a city in a planned manner. She informed that the meeting has been convened to bridge the knowledge gap between denizens of Itanagar and Itanagar Planning Authority and others to clear the common queries/ doubts related to implementation of Master Plan and Enforcement of Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye- Laws 2010/19.
