Itanagar, Mar 22: A coordination meeting was convened in the chamber of the Deputy Commissioner Capital Itanagar cum RO 13- Itanagar, Shweta Nagarkoti with the ASP Capital Angad Mehta and all the Sector Magistrates appointed for the ensuing simultaneous election.
The DC cum RO urged all the sector magistrates to visit all the polling stations and submit list of requirements like space, equipment etc. to the RO at the earliest. She also urged them to complete the vulnerable mappings at the earliest to facilitate necessary arrangements to ensure free and fair elections; free from threat, intimidation and inducements. She further urged the Magistrates and Police to work in close coordination to ensure peaceful election.
The ASP briefed on the importance of Vulnerability mapping in elections which is crucial for identifying and addressing potential weaknesses in the electoral process. “It helps in understanding areas where fraud, manipulation, or other irregularities may occur, allowing authorities to implement targeted measures to safeguard the integrity of the election. By proactively addressing vulnerabilities, we can enhance transparency, credibility, and public trust in the electoral system, ultimately promoting free and fair elections”, he informed. He also provided an insight into the security arrangement for the election.
EAC (Election) Takam Nicholas also briefed on the role of the sector magistrates in the election process.
