Itanagar, June 25: A meeting to review the preparedness for the Southwest Monsoon was held today by Deputy Commissioner, Capital Itanagar, Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta which was attended by all stakeholders. The DC urged all departments to work in a coordinated manner and be prepared with necessary manpower, machinery, and other essentials for the monsoon season.
The DF&CSO informed the house that sufficient stock of rice is available and LPG supply is not being disrupted for even a single day. He also identified open grounds with coordinates for emergency operations or landing. The DMO said the Rapid response team(RRT) have been divided into 5 groups for entire Capital region in case of any disaster. He also said there are adequate stock, placement and management of medicines. 
The DC ordered the work departments to keep their men and machineries ready. She asked the EE (WRD) to monitor water levels constantly in all vulnerable rivers in the district and the EE (Electrical) to implement preventive measures to safeguard power installations and ensure electricity supply to relief camps and shelters. 
The EE PWD CD A/CD B/Nlg /Highways and EE RWD were instructed to ensure de-silting and cleaning of all choked drains. DFO and IMC were directed to carry out pruning and felling of trees in all vulnerable sites that may pose a threat to human life. The DC further instructed all line departments to conduct regular checks of buildings and other structures that may cause disasters and asked the Town Planner and the DLRSO to detect vulnerabilities in areas proposed for LPC or allotment. DDMO Moromi Dodum Sonam informed that all stakeholders had been previously briefed by the DC Cum Chairman DDMA on their roles and responsibilities. She also referred to the recent flooding due to heavy rainfall and urged all departments to submit an updated contingency list of laborers and machinery available with their respective departments as soon as possible.
