PASIGHAT, Oct 4: A 42 Km Clean & Garbage Free awareness Cyclothon was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner East Siang, Tayi Taggu at Pasighat on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The event was conducted by Pasighat Smart City in collaboration with District Administration and Pasighat Municipal Council to mark the Swachh Bharat Diwas.
It took off from Silluk Village, the Cleanest Village of East Siang District, Pasighat and culminated at Raneghat bridge.
The DC applauded the effort of Swachh Silluk Abhiyan & villagers and appealed to everybody to have such mindset and help in keeping the district clean, which in turn help in keeping the nation clean.
Citing the example of Indore City in Madhya Pradesh for being the cleanest city for six consecutive years, which has a population of 33 Lakhs, the DC said "If the people of East Siang are determined with much lesser population, it won’t be a herculean task for us to keep our District clean."
He appreciated and thanked the people of Silluk for hosting the event and also thanked SportBox for sponsoring the event, and also the Medical and Police Department for the constant support.
More than 40 people took part in the Cyclothon. The CEO Dr. Manjuli Komut, MEO Pandov Perme and TP Tani Taloh also participated in the Cyclothon.
