Banderdewa, Sep 19: In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Banderdewa Police apprehended two individuals involved in illicit drug trade as part of its ongoing crackdown under "Operation Dawn."
Acting on credible intelligence regarding a narcotics transaction, the operation led to the arrest of a couple from Assam.
The operation, spearheaded by a dedicated police team including Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge of PS Banderdewa, Sub-Inspector Koj Tada, Assistant Sub-Inspector L.P. Mema, Constable Tade Bomdom, Lady Constable Kago Yamung, and Lady Constable R. Devi, was conducted under the supervision of Paul Jerang, SDPO Naharlagun, and SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo.
The two arrested individuals have been identified as Majibur Rehman (44) and his wife Anuwara Begum (35), both residents of Mohguli village, Charmara PS, Nowboicha District, Lakhimpur, Assam. During a search conducted in the presence of Oli Koyu, Special Judicial Magistrate (NDPS), a soap case containing 13.03 grams of pink powder, suspected to be heroin, was recovered from the possession of Anuwara Begum.
Both suspects have been taken into custody and are under further investigation as part of Banderdewa PS Case No. 60/2024, registered under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act.
