ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) led by its Secretary General, Gonya Riba, met Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday, and placed the demand for immediate scraping of National Pension Scheme (NPS) and restoration of  Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
The apex employees body stated that the National Pension Scheme (NPS) has lots of demerits with no guarantee of social and economic security for government employees, during or after  retirement. This is completely share market investment of the employees’ contributions and the fate of the employees and their family members totally depends on the market growth, it said.
Highlighting that few states such as Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have scrapped NPS in favour of OPS, the CoSAAP also appealed the Arunachal Pradesh government to do the same to guarantee social and economic security of its employees and their families.
After patient hearing, the CM told the visiting delegates that he would discuss with the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary, Finance, on the matter soon. Khandu also assured the CoSAAP that his government would do whatever is possible to secure the interest of  employees.
CM Khandu, told the CoSAAP delegates that his government was focusing on improvement of training module to train the state government employees for improvement of work skill and culture.
“Ours is a challenging state, but has vast potential and resourceful. Every employee should perform their duties responsibly and there should be sense of ownership towards the state," he said. The CM stated that employees are the backbone of the state and the ultimate ones to be responsible in implementing the policy and programmes of the government. “CoSAAP being the employees’ umbrella organization of  various employee organizations of the State would always have big responsibility in building the state for its speedy development and its future" Khandu said.
