Wakro, May 27: AJ Lungphi, ADC Wakro today handed over a cheque as financial assistance under Ghanshyam Singh Katoch Prakalp of the Beena Ghose Roy Scheme by the ASSET to meet the annual school fees of a child in need.
The welfare measure was rendered today in paying tribute to Capt KK Venkatraman who is affectionately known as Capt Sir by many in Arunachal Pradesh. Capt sir had taken premature retirement from the Indian Army to help raise Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya schools in Arunachal Pradesh by the Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in the 80's. As many as 18 residential schools were started to impart education in Arunachal Pradesh and Capt sir had worked tirelessly travelling to innumerable locations which also involved frequent travelling to state capital Itanagar. VKVians and all who knew him were shocked and saddened to learn about his demise. Capt sir had passed away in his residence in Chennai this morning after his usual yogasana session.
ADC Lungphi paying rich tributes to the departed social leader said that he was one who lived every moment of his life rendering selfless service and serving the people and the society. His passing away is an irreparable loss especially for the people of Arunachal Pradesh, he said. 
Saint Swami Madhavananda Saraswati who in his purvashram life had worked with Capt sir said that he is a great soul. A senior distinguished and highly decorated general officer of the Indian Army said that the Indian Army joins the family and the society in paying homage to the noble. The general also said that Capt KK Venkatraman was a highly respected personality in Chennai City.
Capt K. K. Venkatraman was commissioned as an officer in the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was a war veteran who had actively participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. After the war, he joined Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari and administered many residential schools for the tribal children in the Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.
