Itanagar, May 11: A day after the Itanagar Police busted a child prostitution racket in the state capital and arrested 15 people and rescued four minor girls aged 10-15 years, various organisations have lauded the police efforts and sought justice for the victims.
Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) today appreciated the efforts of the Capital Police in apprehending those involved in trafficking and the sexual exploitation of minor girls.
“The sexual exploitation of minor children is very disturbing and concerning. We are deeply disturbed that responsible members of society have been found allegedly involved in the sexual exploitation of minors,” said Kani Nada Maling, President APWWS.
The recurrence of similar cases reported a few months back in Seppa highlights how deeply rooted this issue is in our society. APWWS strongly supports the Capital Police for uncovering the crime and arresting the perpetrators, she said.
“I have already spoken to the SP, ICR, Rajbir Rohit Singh, extending our support to the police department. We also appeal to the people of the state to be vigilant. The well-being of our children is the responsibility of every member of society,” Maling said in a statement today.
ABVP Arunachal Prant also  strongly condemned the trafficking and prostitution racket at Chimpu, Itanagar and demanded a thorough investigation to deliver justice to the victims. The organisation also sought immediate assistance for the minor victims.
We appreciate the prompt action of capital police and ABVP's strong demand for an impartial investigation to deliver justice to victims and immediate action must be taken against the heinous crimes in appropriate law, it said in a statement.
The trade of humans for forced labour, sexual slavery, commercial sexual, child trafficking, and prostitution destroys society and it is a shameful practice that ruins society and nation as a whole. ABVP demands that such things should be uprooted and action should be taken to prevent such shameful crimes from happening in the future.
Further, the ABVP appealed to the State Government to establish a secure and accessible toll-free helpline number for victims, witnesses, and the common public. Provision for free legal aid counseling center for early recovery of victims.
The State Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Arunachal Pradesh, Tatlom Tayeng said "Human trafficking is a heinous crime either adult or minor. ABVP vehemently condemns such vicious acts in the state and shall always fight against such activities."
