ZIRO, Oct 24: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Pawan Kr. Sain along with Joint Chief Electoral officer Liken Koyu visited Ziro to review the First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines here on October 22 last.
The state election officers took a review meeting with Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime, Electoral Registration Officer-cum-EAC Tame Yajum and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer-cum-circle officer Amina Nabam at the District Secretariat.
In course of the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer suggested several measures to ensure a smooth and seamless election at the district. Among others the CEO suggested appointment of sufficient supervisors at polling stations, rationalization of polling stations, contingency plans for rescue and evacuation, avoidable polling dates and expenditure management. The CEO further advised to have regular meetings with the political parties to root out any lacunae in the election process.
The team also visited the venue of the FLC and the strong room of the EVM’s and VVPAT’s and the CEO suggested necessary instructions for their safe keeping.
Earlier during the day, first level checking of EVM’s and VVPAT’s was successfully conducted along with mock exercises at the District Secretariat attended by representatives from various political parties. FLC observer and Election Commission of India officer Shivam Arora supervised the entire FLC process. (DIPRO)
