ITANAGAR, Oct 18: The Chief Electoral Officer, Arunachal Pradesh, under the guidance of Election Commission of India today reviewed the ongoing progress of the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll w.r.t. 01.01.2024 as qualifying date, First Level Checking of EVM, and Poll preparedness through video conference.
All District Election Officers participated in the conference and presented their PPTs except for a few districts where FLC process is going on and districts with poor network connectivity.
Chief Electoral Officer, Pawan Kumar Sain took stock of the ongoing electioneering processes and encouraged all DEOs and election functionaries to be diligent and aim to receive the best election practice recognitions for their meticulous actions.
Further, the CEO reviewed the PPTs submitted by the DEOs and categorically raised objections to some contents and suggested them to rectify the same. The participant DEOs shared the issues and bottlenecks faced by their respective districts.
Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Liken Koyu presented state status on electoral roll and poll preparedness.
Secretary, Election Commission of India, NT Bhutia observed the whole session and stressed upon 100% removal of discrepancies in EPIC, physical verification of Polling station locations, provisions of Assured Minimum Facilities (AM F) in all Polling Stations, removal of multiple entries (PSEs/DSEs) with due consultation with the representatives of all political parties. Bhutia also reviewed that House-to-House surveys by BLOs should be covered 100% and urged the state to ensure that criminal cases related to elections are resolved at the earliest. Further, he added that DCC and Voter Helpline 1950 should be made functional, and the importance of SVEEP activities to address rural apathy along with urban apathy in the election process.
In border areas (both state and international borders), tranquility and vigilance are to be maintained in view of upcoming elections, he said.
