ITANAGAR, July 27: Candidates seeking compassionate appointments in the Home Department have pleaded with Home Minister Mama Natung for relaxation in the recruitment process for Arunachal Pradesh Police.
Speaking to the media at the Press Club on Saturday, the affected candidates highlighted the immense hardships faced by widows and families of police personnel whose family members have laid down their lives in service. They emphasized that due to their age and other factors, they cannot compete with younger applicants for jobs. Therefore, they urged the Minister to relax the recruitment rules.
The candidates argued that while education is important, the department should consider relaxing the educational qualifications required for compassionate appointments, especially for widows who may not meet these qualifications but whose entire families depend on them.
Regarding the Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), they requested flexibility, noting the challenges women face after childbirth. Maintaining a high level of fitness becomes difficult with age, and it is especially challenging for widowed single mothers who work hard to support their children. They also called for relaxation in the written examination and age criteria.
Additionally, the members appealed to the minister to create adequate vacancies in the department, stating that more than 400 compassionate ground candidates are currently waiting to be accommodated.
