ITANAGAR, Feb 22:
Much awaited vehicle parking lot located at the bustling Bank Tinali area of the state capital here was finally inaugurated today by Urban Development, TP & ULB Minister Nabam Rebia. The parking lot has been named after former Minister Techi Takar who was also a social worker in recognition of his services to the people.
Speaking to media persons, Rebia said it was a long felt demand and would help minimise the parking problem at the busy Bank Tinali area which is one of the most congested area of the capital.
‘There is need of many such parking lots in the capital complex. The Urban development as well as IMC is working to ease the problems of traffic and others which are being considered in phase manner,’ he said.
Rebia also informed that there is an immediate need of a parking lot near Civil Secretariat which would be considered shortly. ‘The officers of the UD department have been directed to explore the possibilities of some more parking lots in the capital complex and district headquarters,’ he added.
The parking lot will be handed over to the Itanagar Municipal Council shortly for its maintenance and would generate revenue from the service provided to the people.
On the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary cum local MLA Techi Kaso, Secretary Urban development T.H. Tayung, Chief engineer cum Director Urban Development Taba Tedir, Itanagar municipal council Chief councillor Kipa Kaku, were among the many dignitaries present.
CE Cum Director UD Taba Tedir while speaking on the occasion said that the project was sanctioned by the Ministry of Urban Development, GoI under UIG component of JnNURM with a project cost of 465,40 Lakhs under 90/10 funding pattern at a area of 230 sq mtrs.
The present facilities at basement I, II & ground floor will accommodate 46 light vehicles and some space will be designated for parking for 15 numbers of two wheelers. The first floor shall have an exhibition stall and second floor will have restaurant.
The official further disclosed plans to upgrade the facilities which include a lift system for which an additional fund of 214.15 lakhs have been proposed. ‘If approved we will complete the same for providing good services to the people,’ Tedir added.
