TAWANG, Nov 23: In a world that often seems divided along caste, creed and religious lines, 'Budhh Ki Rasoi '' has become a symbol of unity and compassion, in the picturesque town of Tawang. The initiative driven by the selfless efforts of three like-minded individuals is making waves for its free meals, tea, and hot water to the people, at the serene Buddha Park in Tawang.
The trio, Pema Wangchu, Kalu Ram Nehra, and Kuncho Tenzin Gyamo, joined hands to create a haven where the warmth of a meal transcends social boundaries. Their shared vision of a society where no one goes to bed hungry has materialized into a daily ritual of generosity at Buddha Park. The initiative is a testament to the belief that compassion knows no barriers and that a simple act of kindness can have a profound impact on the lives of many.
Sharing the story of “Buddh Ki Rasoi” one of the founding members Kuncho Tenzin Gyamo informed that the objective is to provide free meals to everyone on a daily basis. Initially conceived in December 2022 with the aim of providing free meals to at least five people a day due to fund constraints, the initiative however began serving 20 people and has since expanded without limitations.
Tawang being one of the coldest places with hundreds of tourists visiting daily, "Buddh Ki Rasoi" offers non-vegetarian meals, along with tea and hot water. The provision of tea and hot water is a continuous service throughout the day, while lunch is served from 10AM to 2PM daily. "One of the key aspects of 'Buddh Ki Rasoi' is its commitment to welcoming everyone regardless of one's identity, economic status or personal beliefs,” Gyamo said.
The venue and location was provided by All India Radio under the initiative of the former Deputy Commissioner of Tawang, Kesang Ngurup Damo. Through contributions from founding members and donations from generous individuals, the trio has been able to sustain and run the kitchen.
The plan for "Buddh Ki Rasoi" had been discussed for several years but came to fruition when all three founding members—Pema Wangchu, Kalu Ram Nehra, a businessman, and Kuncho Tenzin Gyamo—decided to launch the initiative for those in need.
Highlighting the collaborative spirit of the initiative, Wangchu acknowledged the significant contributions of two remarkable women, Norbu and Lham Drema. Both women have lent their helping hands to "Buddh Ki Rasoi" working tirelessly to ensure that not only stomachs but hearts are also touched by the genuine care and empathy accompanying each meal.
“The founders and volunteers of "Budhh Ki Rasoi" are not just feeding bodies; they are feeding the spirit of humanity. Their dedication to serve the community exemplifies the true essence of compassion in action. In a world that often highlights differences, "Budhh Ki Rasoi" shines as a source of hope, proving that kindness is a language that transcends all barriers,” said a tourist from Mumbai.
