KHONSA, Oct 24: In a significant operation launched by the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles in conjunction with Arunachal Pradesh Police on October 22, an active Burmese cadre of NSCN-K (YA) was apprehended in Longding district.
The joint team of security forces worked on a credible input to launch in the border village of Chop in Longding district. After diligent sleuthing, the security forces were able to identify and apprehend the hardcore cadre, who had infiltrated from Myanmar to extort money and indulge in narco terrorism, in a bid to fuel the anti national agenda of the proscribed group. His attempt to do so was however, foiled by the security forces.
The security forces, led by Assam Rifles and Police, has been able to limit the activities of the proscribed group in the border districts of Tirap and Longding immensely, which has driven the anti national elements to a point of desperation. Since, their subversive and extortion activities have been severely curtailed in the region, they have been trying to target the vulnerable sections of the society and mislead them by selling narcotic based substances in a bid to fuel the narco-terror nexus. All their attempts to do so however, have been foiled by the Assam Rifles, stated a DIPRO report.
