Itanagar, Jun 6: In the wake of the sensational case of inter-state immoral trafficking and sex racket involving minors, Ratan Anya, Chairperson, APSCPCR has initiated the first ever coordination meeting between the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights recently held in the office of the latter at Guwahati.
Chairperson of both the Commissions, Member Secretary, ASCPCR and six other Members of ASCPCR were present.
Ratan Anya, stated that the meeting aimed to improve coordination, develop mutual respect and co-operation to address child related cases especially Child Trafficking, Child Labor and violation of child rights. She discussed the recent case of inter-state immoral trafficking and sex racket involving minors which has affected both the States and sought their assistance in combating such organized crime.
She also suggested creating awareness program in the most vulnerable areas of districts bordering Arunachal like Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and appealed to them to recommend the Assam Government to implement long term innovative policies to elevate poverty at the door steps of vulnerable families as poverty is the main reason for crimes against children especially Child Labor and Child Trafficking. Additionally, she has requested the Assam counterpart for co-operation in handling the law-and-order situation where innocent travellers are assaulted as well as seeking their advice on how to develop policy to rehabilitate children found begging with their parents.
Both the Commissions has decided to approach NCPCR to organise a joint regional level workshop in collaboration with NCPCR to address the violation of child rights especially Child trafficking,Child Labor and other crimes involving minors in Guwahati. A quick response action committee to be formed by both the Commissions to address emergency situation concerning children.
In order to monitor and trace missing children, a database of children will be maintained in each and every village of the vulnerable areas bordering the states and proposed strict verification of the Inner Line Permits at three Entry gates of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh as suggested by  Chairpeson, ASCPCR Dr Shyamal Prasad Saikia, IPS(Retd).
In addition, he has also promised to form a quick response committee at the district and village level to deal with child related cases. The Assam Commission has assured full co-operation in complying with all the suggestions discussed in the meeting.
