ITANAGAR, Nov 9: The Arunachal Weightlifting Association is gearing up to host the IWLF National Senior, Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships at Rajiv Gandhi University from December 28 to January 8 next.
It has been confirmed that more than 1600 athletes and officials from 34 states, including the Services Sports Control Board, All India Police Sports Control Boards, Railway Sports Control Board, and Food Cooperation of India are taking part in the championships.
The Arunachal Team is fielding 50 athletes to compete for 240 medals in Senior, Junior, and youth categories. The athletes will be under the supervision of the Junior Commission Officer of Indian Army, Yukar Sibi, who is the first International medalist from Arunachal Pradesh.
The top 7 athletes in all categories in this championship will automatically qualify for the 2024 Uttarakhand National Games.
